My due date is sneaking up on me pretty quickly and my hospital bag is finally all packed and ready to go. It’s difficult knowing what to pack; how much is too much, what if I haven’t packed enough? Luckily after weeks of racking my brain I think I’ve finally got there and packed the perfect amount and have everything I need.

Researching online and talking to other mums about what they packed is the best way to know what to really pack. I’ve read a couple of articles that talk about taking non-essential items that could be replaced with something you’ll probably really depend on when in hospital, or missed off something that’s essential. I’ve made a list for those struggling the same way I had to see if it helps trigger your memory and help you even a tiny bit.

In my bag I have packed:

  • Pyjamas
  • Slippers
  • Dressing gown
  • Birthing pool clothing
  • Coming home outfit
  • Maternity notes
  • Snacks (biscuits, cereal bars, sweets)
  • Drinks
  • Roll-on deodorant
  • Wipes
  • Body wash
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Breast pads
  • Maternity pads
  • Cosmetics (concealer, moisturiser, BB cream, lip balm)
  • Underwear & socks
  • Things to pass the time (kindle, headphones, iPod, mobile phone)
  • Towel & flannel
  • Hair brush
I have also included things for Connor too as he will need a few bits if we’re in hospital for a while, so I have packed:
  • Deodorant
  • Wipes
  • Body wash
  • Change of clothes
  • Snacks and drinks
It sounds like a lot, but it’s best to be over prepared than under – especially at a time when you’re going to want everything to go as smoothly as possible! I hope this helps, and good luck to you mum-to-be’s expecting their little ones any moment now.
