I know, I know, I’m super early packing the baby’s hospital bag now, but I’d rather be prepared. For all I know I could go into labour early – anything could happen. There’s no harm in being prepared and it means one less job that I need to worry about nearer the time. I’ve seen a few mum-to-be’s asking what is needed for a baby’s hospital bag, myself included, so I thought I’d put a checklist all in one place so it is easy to find for myself and everyone else that may need it.

I simply packed her hospital bits in her changing bag, the Silver Cross changing bag. There is plenty of room to fit these items in there and any extras that I may think of later on, but for now I have packed the essentials that I can think of that we’ll need.

Here’s what I’ve packed:
  • 15 nappies, better to have too many than too little
  • Nappy bags to dispose of the nappies in
  • Fold-up changing mat to change the baby on
  • Pack of baby wipes
  • Cotton wool balls or pads
  • 2 bodysuits
  • 2 long sleeve vests
  • 2 short sleeve vests
  • Scratch mits
  • 3 pairs of socks
  • 2 bibs
  • 2 coming home outfits
  • 1 blanket
I packed two coming home outfits as she’s due at a time when British weather can be very temperamental so I have packed one in case it is cold and wet, and one for if it’s quite mild. You may feel like you want to pack more, but this is simply what I have packed.
