I’ve tried a few foundations in recent times to experiment what ones work well with my skin in different situations. There’s lots of different factors when it comes to finding the right foundation, especially depending on your skin type. I have a combination of oily and dry depending on the time of year. I have a few dry places like around my nose, but sometimes my skin can become oily in the summer time. I’ve tried a few in summer, some in winter and inbetween so I can give the right feedback. I’ve come across some I’ve disliked, and some that I’ve liked so I’m going to discuss my top 4 with you. I rate my foundations on application, finish and lasting as they’re the three things I want to be happy with out of a foundation.
1. MAC Studio Fix
This foundation is my all time favourite. I find that this is my go to foundation all year round as it makes my skin so flawless and looks immaculate with the tiniest amount on my face. This foundation is perfect for nights out and busy days as it lasts forever! It’s the only foundation I have tried where I can apply it in the morning and it still be flawless when I come home from work so if I’m in a rush I can wear it out if I needed to. The application is super easy and quick, it doesn’t take a lot of blending. I always blend longer than I need to with anything to make sure it is immaculate, but I don’t need to when applying this foundation. It lasts all day on hot summer days and doesn’t make me look pasty in the drying winter weather.
2. Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25 Hour
I’d say this foundation is a great dupe for MAC Studio Fix, but not as nice to apply. Application lets this foundation down a little simply because I have to use a bit more to get the finish I want, which then leads me to feeling a little bit caked when my make up is finished – it doesn’t look it though! The Lasting Finish 25 Hour finishes as flawlessly as Studio Fix, but after a bit more blending. Again, this foundation is long-lasting as it doesn’t really slip off my face any time of the year, but I wouldn’t say it lasts as long as Studio Fix either. That’s why it’s second on the list!
3. Estee Lauder Double Wear
With this foundation the application is lengthy. It takes a while for me to blend out this foundation simply because it is quite watery so it can look shiny and oily if it isn’t blended into my skin enough. I love the flawlessness this foundation gives my skin, but it’s hard to decipher how much is the right amount in the summer without it slipping off my face throughout the day. In the winter it is a really nice finish and doesn’t slip off my face, but I find it can be quite drying after wearing it in the day. However, for a night out this is a stunning foundation as it can resist sweat, and accidental drinks over the face. Despite the same ratings as Rimmel London’s Lasting Finish 25 Hour foundation, it comes in third place as it is triple the price tag!
4. Rimmel London Perfect Match
Rimmel London have made the list again – they’re foundation must haves if you’re just starting to get into make up. I have knocked this one further down the list because it isn’t as long-lasting as Lasting Finish 25 Hour. I can tell it is a similar formula when wearing it, as it feels the same on and when applying etc. The long-lasting lets it down though, which is a shame because it’s an amazing affordable find on the high street. I love everything else about it; the way it blends, feels and finishes on my face is amazing!
